The all-new 1.5 liter three-cylinder engine developed by BMW has a great sound and even if three cylinders seem to be missing from the picture you won’t regret the exhaust noise if you decide to buy it.
The BMW 1-5 liter three-cylinder engine has been officially presented to the public just a few weeks ago but the unit is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time thanks to a video find on YouTube, which is revealing its exhaust sound. Besides its availability in Europe, the German based automaker is also planning to launch the new engine to the United States too, where it will be used on models like the i8 plug-in electric hybrid sports car or for future MINI vehicles.
BMW hasn’t announced any details specifications on the new engine, but the petrol unit is known to get outputs raging between 121 HP (122 PS / 90 kW) to 221 HP (224 PS / 165 kw) and torque between 180 Nm (133 lb-ft) to 240 Nm (177 lb-ft). The diesel engines will produce between 80 HP (82 PS / 60 kW) and 181 HP (184 PS / 135 kW), with a peak torque between 225 Nm (166 lb-ft) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft).
