We’re a bit intrigued about why BMW would introduce a new commercial for a sold-out model, but we’re not going to argue much since the M4 GTS is promoted with help from martial arts icon Bruce Lee.
A new BMW ad coming from China is using the powerful words of Bruce Lee to illustrate the limited-run BMW M4 GTS high tech water injection system that delivers even more power. The spot is not making use of fancy CGI to bring the Dragon to life, but uses bits and parts of a classic interview with the martial arts icon where he talks about the power of water to both flow and crash. Bosch developed the water injection system in the M4 GTS to spray a fine mist of water into the intake manifold – it vaporizes and cools the chamber, which in turn helps the turbo run at a higher boost setting.
With the technology – set to be further developed and in the future trickle down to other production cars – the 3.0-liter biturbo inline-six engine comes to life at no less than 494 horsepower (368 kilowatts) and 442 pound-feet (600 Newton meters) of torque. The 1.3-gallon (5.0-liter) tank can run out after around 1,800 miles (2,896 kilometers) and can be easily topped by the owner so the computer reverts to the high-power setting. BMW sold just 803 M4 GTS to consumers and used another 27 for promotional purposes.
