The US automaker is doing swell in China, the world’s largest auto market, but at home – the second biggest auto market – it’s still struggling to reinvent its image.
The automaker acknowledges the issues and in its quest to reach a younger audience makes use of celebrities and humor to try and forego the boring image of old. The video is titled Pee Wee and is already available online – during the Super Bowl it will run during the first quarter of the game. It involves two dads looking at their kids play Pee Wee football – then a Cascada comes and as they admire it, one remarks “If that’s a Buick, then my kid is Cam Newton.” Naturally, the young quarterback on the field suddenly morphs into the Carolina Panthers’ star QB.
They seem to have a good time with the magic, so a similar rant at the end when an Encore arrives leads to the appearance of supermodel Miranda Kerr onto the sidelines. This is not the first time Buick uses the formula – last year during the first ever Super Bowl commercial the spot for the Cascada brought sports star Odell Beckham Jr. and actress and model Emily Ratajkowski. This is of course just one of the commercials to air during the Big Game from automakers, so stay tuned, we’re going to show you more.
