The North American based automaker Cadillac has recently tested its ATS model on the Nurburgring, ahead of its official debut at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show.
After teasing its upcoming model for a while, details about the Cadillac ATS are starting to emerge and after the manufacturer has officially announced that the vehicle will be presented to the public one night before the Detroit Auto Show press days, on January 8, 2012, and the model has been caught testing on the famous German Nurburgring track, the ATS is coming closer and closer to its future owners. The Cadillac ATS will have some serious competition in the luxury segment from the main German automakers and not only, but it will definitely become a best seller in the United States.
Cadillac has only released details about one engine which will make its way under the ATS’ hood, the high-performance 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine which is estimated to develop a total output of 270 horsepower thanks to direct injection, air-to-air intercooler, continuously variable valve timing and a two-stage variable-displacement oil pump with jet-spray piston cooling. The rear-wheel drive Cadillac ATS will battle with the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4 and the model will hit the dealerships in mid-2012.
