[Video] Caterham can even do Airways – at least virtually image

The British exotic car manufacturer has decided to play a bit with the industry standards – by means of mixing up the automotive with the flight industry and its standards.

Let’s get this out – Caterham Airways is just a trick to enable this neat video demonstration. Though if it did exist, it would have the coolest safety demonstration in the entire aviation industry. Or the best idea to come to the automotive industry. But back to the thing at hand – they play on the concept that no one is paying attention to the usual safety demonstration aboard the plane. You saw one – you saw them all practically. Caterham instead makes sure you would pay attention because you get strapped in one of their neat cars, on board with a crazy driver that makes a point to demonstrate why you need all those safety measures.

Nice point though – the vehicle used is the Caterham 620S. So, you get carried around the track by a Ford-sourced, 2.0-liter supercharged engine packing 310 horsepower. And because you’re in a Caterham, not some hot hatchback, there’s no traction control, no anti-lock brakes, no driver assistance systems whatsoever. And it tips the scales at just 1,200 pounds. So, while you’re used to driving something that feels like a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, in this case you get strapped in a jet fighter. And that’s exactly the sort of plane one should experience at least once in a lifetime to get the real perks of flying.
