What we have here are a 2016 Charger Hellcat and two other Chargers – though only one of them is a regular Charger, the other being the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. This is not a competition of who wins, because these are all spectacular cars…

Chrysler back in the golden age of NASCAR had its fan base assured with the help of their winged warriors – these striking models had an obvious aero advantage when looking at the stock Dodge Charger and Plymouth Road Runner from which they were derived. Even the Torino Talladega – Ford’s NASCAR competitor – which was great aero work for that age, but looked like a brick next to the Mopar twins. And these radical styling paid off – the Dodge Charger Daytona was the first NASCAR ride to surpass the 200 miles per hour mark. The Daytona and Superbird were so dominant that NASCAR actually had to bring new rules…

Some folks decided to see how much the aero package helped. A pair of 1969 Chargers – one of them a Daytona – were taken to a wind tunnel. And also a brand new Charger Hellcat was thrown into the mix to see how modern compares to retro. The stock 1969 Dodge Charger is one of the best looking muscle cars of the era.
