Bad news for Chevrolet while its modern muscle car, the Camaro, decided that its driver had a crash while drifting and deployed the side airbags.
No more drifting for Chevrolet Camaro owners and if you own the 2012 model year version and you will see this video below, you will definitely press the brake pedal harder before taking that corner. A Chevrolet Camaro owner was caught on camera while drifting when the unexpected happened: the car’s side airbags deployed for no apparent reason, leaving its driver with limited visibility who had to stop the vehicle in everyone’s applause.
After going through this unfortunate event, the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro was tested by the NHTSA (North American Traffic Safety Administration) and the feds noticed the same problem with the side airbags. According to the NHTSA, the driver’s head is hitting the roof without ever touching the side airbag and the same problem is noticed for the rear passengers. But even so, the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro was awarded a five-star rating during the latest American crash tests.
A quick research on the internet is showing us that in order to replace the deployed side airbags of the 2012 Chevy Camaro would cost the average American about 5.000 USD, while in Europe the price might be 5.000 EUR. You can watch the video with the Camaro drifting and deploying its airbags below.
