A Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, equipped with the Z51 Performance Package, has been recently taken to the drag strip.
One week after Hennessey has played with a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray on the drag strip, equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and the Z51 package, doing a quarter mile at 114.9 mph and in 12.2 seconds, another Corvette from the new generation has been taken on a drag stip. The model in question is also fitted with a Z51 Performance Package, but unlike Hennessey’s version, this one has a 7-speed transmission. The model managed to do a quarter mile at 116.2 mph in 12.47 seconds.
The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been officially unveiled back in January, during the 2013 NAIAS, in Detroit, and it’s become more and more popular with each day. The waiting list for buying a new Corvette can stretch to as close as 6 moths. Power to the muscle car is being provided by a 6.2 liter V8 engine, producing a total output of 450 HP and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels and the 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes less than 4 seconds.
