The French automaker has decided to treat us to an all new generation of the subcompact vehicle, seven years after the previous one entered the market.
Citroen has initialized with a video the official countdown to the official introduction of the new generation C3, which should go live on June 29. The French brand has even set up a special Facebook page for the promotional campaign that ends when the model is unveiled. The new generation is coming after the current one has grown long in the tooth after seven years of presence – also reminding us the model has been around with us since way back in 2002 – a total of 3.6 million cars being sold in the process. Citroen is ready to deliver its usual quirky and “colorful design” combined with a “feel-good personality” and “unique, powerful shape” that will “shake-up the small car market.” What we hope is to get a smaller C4 Cactus.
This is also the word across the rumor mill, which expects the model to be slightly larger than before – thus more accommodating for the rear passengers and cargo area – with styling inspiration taken from the lovely and successful C4 Cactus. Powertrain options should remain familiar, with updated turbo petrol and diesel three- and four-cylinder, as well as a choice of manual or automatic transmissions.
