Video: Corvette Z06 Establishes 7:22.68 at Nürburgring image

During Corvette’s recent return to the world’s most-demanding testing ground – Germany’s famed Nürburgring – the Z06 model, as detailed on video, recorded a lap time of 7:22.68.

What is new on the 2012 Z06? The test car was fitted with the Z07 chassis package, which includes a special Performance Traction Management system previously unique to the ZR1, Michelin Pilot Sport tires, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.

The lap time is 20 seconds faster than the previous-best Z06 lap time, recorded in 2005, and just 3 seconds behind the 638-horsepower 2012 ZR1. The Z06 is three seconds slower around the Nürburgring then the ZR1, yet $35,925 cheaper (ok, $25,480 when equipped with the $9495 Z07 package).
