The new generation of the Chevrolet Corvette has been put against the Porsche Cayman S on a track, by the guys at Edmunds.
When it comes to testing the new generation of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the guys at Edmunds have decided to place it against a more worthy opponent, in terms of price at least, the Porsche Cayman S. The Corvette C7 may have 450 HP but its German rival is coming with 325 HP so deciding the winner in a simple drag race is anything but rocket science.
The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is taking its power from a 6.2 liter V8 engine, which is good for 450 HP and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque. The unit can be mated to either a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Corvette needs less than 4 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph). The Porsche Cayman S, on the other hand, is powered by a much smaller 3.4 liter six-cylinder engine, which is good for 325 HP (239 kW). The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 4.7 seconds in the German vehicle. You can check out Edmunds’ test of the new Corvette, pinned against the Cayman S, below.
