One of the best selling hatchbacks out there, the Renault Megane, has managed to disappoint as it has only received a 3-star safety rating during the latest crash test session performed by Euro NCAP.
One of the main competitors of the Volkswagen Golf, the Renault Megane, has achieved a total of 3 stars out of a possible five during the latest crash test session performed by Euro NCAP. The French hatchback has received 83 percent in Adult Occupant protection, 78 percent in Child safety, 60 percent in Pedestrian protection and 48 percent in the Safety Assist category.
The main problems in the Front Offset category were seen at the driver’s chest and legs, which were marked “Adequate”, and at the front passenger’s chest. The side car impact provided a “Good” protection to the occupants but things changed in the Side Pole impact. The Whiplash seen a “Marginal” protection to the neck. In the Pedestrian safety category, things went quite bad for the Megane as major problems were seen with the front part of the hood and with the side and lower parts of the windscreen. Points were lost in the Safety Assist category too, where the Lane Support systems and the AEB Interurban systems were missing. The tested car was a Renault Megane hatchback 1.5 dCi Life.
