Another Ferrari has met its end in a spontaneous combustion situation at a Martinez gas station over the weekend.
According to the local media, the owner of the Ferrari 308 was filling up the gas thank when he noticed smoke and flames were coming from the engine compartment. He immediately grabbed the fire extinguisher to try and put out the fire but no luck. The supercar has burst into flames close to the fuel pump. Everyone at the gas station ran for cover and, surprisingly, they watched the Ferrari starting to roll itself away from the fuel pump and into the street.
The owner said that the 308 was in gear but because of the high temperature “it must have popped something into place and the car ended up rolling into the street”, avoiding a serious situation. Employees working at the gas station have turned the gas pumps off as soon as the flames were visible. The 1978 Ferrari was completely destroyed. The owner added that “it was a nice car” and that “I’m gonna see if I can get another one”. We will remind you that the Ferrari 308 was produced between 1975 and 1985 and it came with a mid-engine and rear-wheel drive. It came with a 2.9l V8 available in two outputs, 252 HP and 237 HP, while the GTBi / GTSi had 211 HP and 202 HP.
