Ferrari has recently taken the wraps off the new 458 Speciale, during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, and the mini event can now be seen on the video posted below.
One of the most important supercars of the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show was definitely the brand new Ferrari 458 Speciale. The model in question is the spiritual successor of the F430 Scuderia and of the 360 Challenge and it’s expected to become a best seller soon, thanks to its impressive upgrades which can be found on its exterior design, in the cabin and under its hood.
The Ferrari 458 Speciale is powered by the same 4.5 liter V8 engine from the 458 Italia, which is now producing a total output of 597 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 398 lb-ft. The Italian based automaker says that the 458 Speciale can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.0 seconds. The electronic stability systems have been recalibrated in the supercar and its weight has been also reduced.
One of the most significant changes found on the model is definitely the Side Slip Angle Control system, which can analyze constantly the slip angle, comparing it to some target value based the grip levels, speed and other metrics, optimizing its torque distribution between the two rear wheels, making it easier to handle. The Ferrari 458 Speciale is now the third fastest road-going Ferrari on the Fiorano track, right after the new LaFerrari and the F12 Berlinetta.
