An epic rev battle between the old and the new has been put together recently.
Purists will have something to talk about with this new video which is showing a rev battle between the 488 GTB and the 458 Speciale. The two supercars are stock, except for the 458 Speciale which has received a Novitec exhaust system. You can see how they sound in the video posted below and make up your mind whether turbocharging is really the way to go and naturally aspirated engines are a thing of the past.
The Ferrari 458 Speciale is the range-topping version of the old 458 Italia. This was unveiled back in 2013, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and it’s the spiritual successor of the 360 Challenge and F430 Scuderia. The 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine is found under its hood, producing 605 HP and 540 Nm of torque, allowing it to reach 100 km/h in just 3 seconds.
The 488 GTB on the other hand is the successor of the 458 Italia. This was unveiled earlier this year and it’s dropping the 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine in favor of a new 3.9 liter twin turbo V8. This is rated at 670 HP and 760 Nm of torque and it’s allowing the supercar to reach 100 km/h in 3 seconds.
