One of the first reviews of the brand new Ferrari 488 Spider has hit the web and it is being signed by AutoExpress.
The newest convertible to roll off the assembly line in Maranello is called the Ferrari 488 Spider. This has been offered as a replacement for the 458 Spider and it made its public debut more than a month ago, during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Its main competitors are the McLaren 650S Spider and the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder. But is this as good as they say? Well, if you know Ferrari, than this review will not surprise you at all.
The Ferrari 488 has hit production in Maranello this year. It has been designed by Centro Stile Ferrari and offered as a replacement for the 458 range. This is not entirely brand new and it is more like a significant facelift of the predecessor, with changes including chassis improvements, better aerodynamics, visual upgrades and a new cabin. However, the most important modification is found under its hood where the 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine of the 458 has been dropped in favor of a new 3.9 liter twin turbo V8. Power is sent to the rear-wheel drive through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, allowing the roadster to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.0 seconds, the same as the coupe, with a top speed of 327 km/h (203 mph).
