It happened before and it’s apparently happening again – because after three minutes of explosions and lots of CGI (and a submarine!) we find Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) is apparently a villain.
Officially called “The Fate of the Furious, ” the eighth installment in the world renowned blockbuster movie franchise seems to have a heart wrenching twist in which Dom will betray his family – though we’re sure there’s some sort of explanation (not necessarily logical) for that. It could have to do with Cipher (Charlize Theron) – but also it could have to do with losing your mind in front of the green screen when you’re doing a movie with cars. Anyways, an entertaining bit has to do with Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) buddying out with Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) in jail, throwing punches and kickstarting what looks like a riot.
Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) is back and seems to be in charge – of the team, not booze. Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) and Tej Parker (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) are just as merry as always and we can see Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez) is as sexy and angry as always. The Fate of the Furious also brings new spirits to the franchise – such as Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren. Directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton), The Fate of the Furious will hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
