It’s actually a very short teaser trailer, but so far so good – the all-new series should be out and about on July 30, changing its name from Top Gear USA to Top Gear America, and this time premiering where it belongs – on BBC America.
The previous series, hosted by Rutledge Wood, Tanner Foust, and Adam Ferrara wasn’t bad at all – but its six seasons on the History Channel did live under the shadow of the more popular original installment, back then featuring the well-known Clarkson- Hammond-May trio. Now there’s room for improvement for the franchise as it gets a needed revival in the States. The first trailer is clearly showing some good signs. It’s also going to be hosted by a star – actor William Fichtner of Black Hawk Down and Dark Knight fame, helped by champion drag racer Antron Brown, and British auto journalist Tom “Wookie” Ford, former co-host of Fifth Gear.
The series debuts soon – on July 30, 2017, and seems like a classic tailored suit on the typical Top Gear format. The spot is brimming with supercars, racers and old-fashioned nonsense. Tom Ford can be seen driving the new Acura NSX supercar, Fichtner is handling the BAC Mono, as well as off-road and other shenanigans. And the all-new Stig, of course.
