A total of five prototypes of the Porsche 918 Spyder have been recently spotted in the United States and this is quite an achievement, considering the fact that customer deliveries haven’t began just yet.
Future owners of the Porsche 918 Spyder, in the United States, will be glad to find out that the company is currently testing a few prototypes of the hybrid supercar and stumbling upon not one, but five units of these models, is really a once in a lifetime experience. The hybrid supercars in question have been spotted at a hotel in Los Angeles, where Porsche is known for storing a lot of its prototypes.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is taking its power from a naturally aspirated 4.6 liter V8 gasoline burner, which is backed up by two electric motors, one for each axle. The hybrid supercar is getting a total of 887 HP (652 kW) and 1,289 Nm (944 lb-ft) of torque, which are being sent to the wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The Porsche 918 Spyder can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.7 seconds and from 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) in just 7.2 seconds.
