[Video] Ford Performance teases the off-road credentials of the F-150 Raptor image

Ford truck fans will have a long wait in front of them until October when the new performance F-150 is slated to go on sale, and before that happens Ford Performance entices us with some off-road prowess.

The US automaker is looking ahead at the market launch of the 2017 Raptor and has recently announced plans to start a new six-part series which is set to describe how the “F-150 Raptor is the ultimate high-performance off-road pickup truck.” The first episode is being teased right now, with the entire series including the following highlights: F-150 Raptor’s off-road ability (video 1); the all new BF Goodrich KO2 Tires (video 2); the six preset driving modes for every terrain (video 3); long travel suspension (video 4); design (video 5) and again off-road capability (video 6). The series has been filmed in the Mojave Desert where the prototypes have also been tested, and each installment will be released on a monthly basis.

The F-150 Raptor has been designed to incorporate high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy in order to reduce weight by more than 500 pounds, and comes with redesigned, larger FOX Racing Shox with more suspension travel and all-new terrain management technology. There’s also a Torsen front differential and under the hood sits Ford’s new, second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost linked to all-new 10-speed transmission. It will be available starting this fall in SuperCab and SuperCrew configurations and comes with an aggressive styling with dynamic front bumper, LED headlights, and a silver skid plate. There are also front fender vents, extended fender flares, and a mesh grille with “Ford” lettering. At the back there’s a bespoke tailgate, an exclusive dual exhaust system, and the side houses 17-inch alloy wheels with the aforementioned BF Goodrich KO2 tires.
