We are talking here about no ordinary F1 driver, as it’s Nico Rosberg, currently the leader in the Driver’s Championship doing the honors and no ordinary classic racecar – it’s Juan Manual Fangio’s 1954 W196 Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow.

The Formula One driver took some time off his busy schedule and went on to drive the beautiful W196 at the Hockenheim racetrack before the first race of the latest DTM season.

With Rosberg already saying some time ago that driving the W196, he decided to let us all in on the matter, making a video of how he drove the car around the track. The video intimately reveals small details about the particular W196 he drove (you know, it was those day when no car matched another) – like the instrument cluster layout or the seat trim.

Oh, and if you don’t want to do your homework on racing legend Juan Manual Fangio’s ride, you should know that in the two years competing and the 12 races it was entered, the car won nine – four in 1954 and the rest in 1955. Fangio used it to grip his 1954 and 1955 F1 world championship titles, while another legend – Stirling Moss saw in it his first victory in the 1955 British Grand Prix.
