There are sad times for those loving the truck-engined American supercar that was the Dodge Viper, but at least we can send it towards the sunset with such great homages.

The world has gone nuts on the very limited Dodge halo car – the new Challenger SRT Demon – but Pennzoil decided to honor another high-horsepower Mopar example. We’re of course talking about the great Dodge Viper, which is currently on its way towards the retirement village – again – as it will be discontinued at the end of the 2017 model year. Pennzoil delivered its tribute film to the Viper, appropriately titled The Last Viper during the hour-long Demon reveal, so in case you missed it, here’s another chance to watch it online.

Anyways, beside the irony of delivering a V10 tribute during a fest for the world’s most powerful production V8, we can be sure the Viper would eat up the Demon on anything else besides a straight line. The crude vehicle evolved over its lifetime in a world class supercar that can post lap records at no less than 14 tracks, including Virginia International Raceway, Willow Springs, and Laguna Seca. Thank you, Viper, for being there (does anyone remember the 1990s series?!) and good bye and fare well…
