[Video] Honda Civic Type R and SI share the spotlight image

The Japanese automaker is ready to premiere a new marketing campaign called “Racing at Heart” to highlight the “most robust and diverse racing portfolio of any automaker.”

They are mostly trying to show us the experience gathered in the challenging world of motorsports is being used as expertise in the production of everyday cars, though the Civic SI and especially the Type R are not exactly your run of the mill versions. The namesake inaugural spot talks about Honda’s involvement in competitions such as the Verizon IndyCar Series, Red Bull Global Rallycross, and desert truck racing – but also discusses the Ridgeline pickup truck and the Civic SI and Type R, vehicles you can actually go out and buy. Of course, Honda hasn’t mentioned the world of F1, where its the Honda-powered McLaren MCL32 is performing unlike it should…

The Civic SI is already on sale in the United States with a price kicking off at $24,775 in both sedan and hatchback versions, with a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine packing 205 horsepower (153 kilowatts) and 192 pound-feet (260 Newton-meters) of torque delivered to the front wheels using a six-speed manual gearbox. The Civic Type R is also getting ready for dealership time, carrying with it the accolade of being the fastest front-wheel-drive production car on the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife track.
