The Honda Civic Type R is easily one of the hottest and most eagerly-anticipated new arrivals in the hot hatch real for this year, and Honda is enticing motorsport fans with a new arrival video.
The Formula One fans of the McLaren-Honda Formula One team might be pleased to know that driver Stoffel Vandoorne has already had the experience of the Type R prowess – being the first person to publicly drive one in Australia. Down under, the Civic Type R goes on sale during the fourth quarter of 2017, but eager buyers on the Old Continent have already seen it at the Geneva Motor Show and should get it in the least amount of time – being manufactured in the company’s UK plant. The US fans should also be pleased – they will finally land this very hot hatch after it premieres at the New York Auto Show in April, with sales kicking off swiftly afterwards.
Getting the Type R in America will be a pricey option, as it will only be specked in flagship Touring trim. It will come pre-loaded with lots of equipment, such as seven-inch infotainment system with navigation and full LED headlights. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will be good for 306 horsepower (228 kilowatts) and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton meters) of torque in US spec and come hooked exclusively to a six-speed manual and the front wheels with a limited-slip differential.
