[Video] Hot Wheels car pays homage to the Star Wars X-Wing fighter image

Ok, we’re seriously geeking out here (just like we did back in the day when Hyundai was involved with The Walking Dead) – Star Wars, X-Wing fighter, cars… what more could we need?

We know, tickets to the San Diego annual Comic Con event! This is where Hot Weels is going to showcase the Star Wars X-Wing fighter car – a transformation of possibly the most iconic space fighter out there in a high-performance machine that can be used on land. Called the X-Wing Carship, the vehicle has been penned by Hot Wheels designer Dmitriy Shakhmatov and manufactured with help from Action Vehicle Engineering – the same ones helped build the Darth Vader car last year. While the latter was a little cheesy and clearly for the six-year old, this one is much more complex and might even have fans among the older dudes that were young back when Star Wars was a thing – oh, hey, I’m talking about myself here as well…

Details about the vehicle are severely limited – Shakhmatov said that since the design is based on the 1:64 scale model, the toy “eliminates certain elements of a car to make it more appealing to consumers, so there were lots of changes that needed to be made to the full-size car to make it look good and perform well.” Anyways, reports are calling for a Ford-sourced 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 175 horsepower – it might sound too little, too few, but the top speed apparently stands at 180 mph and there’s 950 pounds of downforce at 165 mph. With AP dual piston calipers with slotted rotors and bespoke slick tires the X-Wing Carship will “out-maneuver the Empire and save the galaxy.” And make a buck – because 1:64 scale Carships will soon become available through retailers.
