Hyundai has revealed a new model, named the HB20, in Brazil, which will enter the most competitive segment in the country’s auto market.
According to the South Korean based automaker, the all-new Hyundai HB20 was designed especially for Brazil and this will actually be the first model which will be produced at the company’s new facility in Piracicaba, Sao Paulo.
“For Hyundai, the launch of HB20 means a lot more than simply presenting a new model. Unlike our other models currently offered in Brazil, HB20 is the first model strategically developed and produced exclusively for the Brazilian market”, said the president of Hyundai Motors Brazil, Chang Kyun Han.
The Hyundai HB20 is a five-door hatchback and it’s close related to the i20 sold in Europe. The HB20 is coming with a revised exterior design and different styling in the cabin and the model has been adapted to the needs of buyers in the South American country.
Power to the Hyundai HB20 is provided by a 1.0 liter engine with 80 HP, by a 1.6 liter with 128 HP, both with five-speed manual transmission, and by a 1.6 liter unit with an automatic transmission. Prices for the Hyundai HB20 start at BRL 31,995 (15,800 USD) and the model will enter production locally on the 20th of September.
