Well, it may be and it will definitely rule the segment from which BMW has backed out and Audi is still expected to introduce the new RS4 Avant.
Speaking of a new range-topping version of the C-Class, in the shape of a true Black Series, has always gotten us thinking at a coupe body style or even a four-door sedan, but until now, we haven’t been considering the fact that Mercedes-Benz can actually add it as an estate. The video posted below is showing us a camouflaged prototype of what we believe to be such a version while it has been cruising around public roads.
First thing noticeable are the front and rear bumpers, which have been upgraded, along with the side sills, and strengthening our belief that this is a Black Series are the quad tailpipes visible at the rear. The beefier wheel arches are contributing to the new look too, along with the different design of the wheels than the ones seen on the C63 S. A stiffer suspension system and better brakes are also found on it and if we are really speaking about a true Black Series Mercedes, then expect the 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 engine to produce more than the one found on the C63 S Estate, which means 510 HP (375 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. The “standard” AMG model needs 4.1 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill but the upgraded version might do it in approximately 3.9 seconds. Chances are we will get to see this at the upcoming 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, this September.
