[VIDEO] It’s official – McLaren’s Porsche 911 fighter to be called the Sports Series image

The future entry-level sports car to be produced by McLaren will be known as the Sports Series once it will become available.

Previously known as the P13, the upcoming McLaren entry-level sports car, has finally received a name, and it’s quite a strange once considering the fact that the other two vehicles currently produced by the company are called the 650S and the P1. The new Porsche 911 fighter coming from Great Britain will be sold under the Sports Series moniker. McLaren has launched a weird ad with the upcoming model which can be seen below, right after the jump.

The McLaren Sports Series is believed to be coming with the same 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine found on its larger brothers, which will be less powerful in this case, producing approximately 490 HP. Even if this seems less than what the competition has to offer, the sports car will be lighter and have better weight distribution. We’re not sure when this will be unveiled but considering the fact that the 2014 L.A. Auto Show is just around the corner, don’t act too surprised if McLaren will pull the wraps off its body in a couple of weeks.
