We’re actually used to football stars to lend their name or credentials to automakers (we really like the quirky Nissan ads), but it’s nice to see such collaborations also happen with the men behind the glam – coaches.
And since this is not very usual, the carmaker in question decided to go for a famous soccer (football) coach – namely José Mourinho – to make sure people won’t be asking who the heck the man is. Anyways, the British automaker Jaguar decided to team up with Mourinho for the marketing stunt by asking him to take the F-PACE crossover for a quick workout on a frozen lake in Arjeplog, Sweden. The prototype of the F-PACE S was manhandled at Jaguar Land Rover’s testing facility that also boasts a 37-mile frozen lake where temperatures went to -22 °F (-30 °C). This action was also just 40 miles off the Arctic Circle and as you would imagine José Mourinho was pleased with the high-performance crossover (and especially its heating amenities, we imagine).
Tommi Karrinaho, a Finnish professional driver, was on point to hone Mourinho’s driving skills in the F-Pace S prototype: “the flying lap with Tommi sent my adrenaline soaring. It’s something I’ve only ever experienced before when I have walked out in front of 80,000 football fans,” commented the beloved coach. By the way, regular humans may also embark on such feats – the Jaguar Ice Drive Experience will be taking place next year in the exact same location.
