Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations has done it again – the Range Rover Sport SVR with its 550 hp has nothing on the new Project 8, which arrives with 600 hp as the marque’s most powerful iteration in history.
We saw the bespoke F-Type Project 7 back in 2014 and now the Jaguar Land Rover SVO have come up with an extreme build on the basis of the XE compact sedan. As in bringing “aerodynamics and performance engineering to another level” – and we’ll just say this is a supercar in sedan clothes, 600 horsepower on top the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine. And there will be enough wishful customers for this very special limited edition – though Jaguar is keeping this exclusive with a mere 300 units production at the SVO Technical Center in Coventry, U.K. where they’ll be hand-assembled.
This will actually be a global model and its official public premiere will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 30 – with full specs and details set to arrive a couple of days earlier. With the new XE SV Project 8 pitted as the “most extreme performance” model, it’s set to best even the F-Type SVR – the all-wheel-drive XE SV Project 8 is all set to compete with the likes of BMW M3 Competition Package and the Mercedes-AMG C63 S.
