[Video] Jaguar’s XJ speaks of the “Game of Drones” image

We’re not quite sure if the oldest model in Jaguar’s lineup really wants to be associated with GoT – considering the series’ action takes place in the middle ages…

Never mind that thought – the XJ, even in its luxury long-wheelbase version will never beat a roam where dragons are something real, but even so we might consider taking the automobile just because, have you seen how the vast majority of people live in Game of Thrones? Hint – no electricity, no medical aid and certainly we don’t want to be nobles, because those have a tendency to die fast… Anyways, we highly suspect Jaguar mostly had intended the references to go towards the very modern community of video gamers. And because the British automaker recently introduced a new, even more hardcore version dubbed the XJR575, it was just about right to have two professional drone racers taken to the Alexandra Palace in London for the “Game of Drones.”

As far as we can tell, the drones reached speeds of up to 60 mph (96 kph) and had to complete a course with 13 gates shaped as the rear door of an elongated XJ – all illuminated in either Phosphor Blue or Red as a tribute to the interior themes of the stately sedan. The drone game even included an entry inside the rear compartments as well as flying below the underbody – and while the action seems CGI, we can all be sure it happened for real. The new XJR575 has – as suggested – 575 horsepower thanks to the supercharged 5.0-liter V8, also good for 516 lb-ft (700 Newton-meters) of torque.
