Corvette Hall of Fame race driver, Johnny O’Connell, has recently went for a spin in the new generation of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, at Laguna Seca.
The new generation of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which is wearing the 2014 model year in its name, has been officially presented to the public back in January, during the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, and then it was brought to almost every major automotive event, being also launched in the United States and Europe. But what would a new generation of a sports car be without a famous racing driver taking a spin in it? This was probably GM’s idea too, when it invited Johnny O’Connell at the Laguna Seca.
The famous race driver took the new Corvette Stingray for a quick lap on the Laguna Seca Raceway and if you’re curious to see what came out, all you have to do is scroll down and click play to view the POV video. The new generation of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is powered by a 6.2 liter LT1 V8 engine, which is producing a total output of 460 HP (343 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 630 nm (465 lb-ft) of torque, available at 4,600 rpm. The 0 to 60 mph sprint takes less than 4 seconds and power is sent to the RWD through a seven-speed manual transmission.
