[Video] Ken Block plays with the F-150 Raptor on some dunes image

Yes, what do you know, the well-known rally driver turned Gymkhana star Ken Block likes the new generation F-150 Raptor – though in this setting, we mean Dune setting, it would be crazy to thing anyone would think this high-performance truck is out of place.

With an all-new generation, the aluminum intensive F-150 has also gone down the route of the Raptor – but Ford had to give in to the power of downsizing. This means that instead of the glorious but old and inefficient 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 came a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 of the EcoBoost variety. Yes, it’s the same engine used in the new Ford GT supercar, but it turns out in this application the Ford engineers didn’t catch the right exhaust note. That’s the biggest beef anyone can have with the F-150 Raptor though, because it outdoes the older generation by a mile in every other respect.

Case in point, the host took the Baja-ready truck to a dusty area named California City – where it hit 107 miles per hour on a dry lake bed after doing 60 mph in a mere 5.2 seconds. More importantly, there are some sand dunes out there as well – as well as the right man for them, Mr. Block. And yes, the Baja mode and the right man at the helm make for an absolute treat…
