The South Korean automaker decided the summer isn’t over yet in Mallorca, Spain, as they decided to showcase their European specification of the new Stinger, complete with an appropriate Micro Blue hue.
The sporty fastback – especially in the GT Line configuration – is certainly one of the most interesting Kia models to date, and for the European showcase the company of course selected the diesel version, as clients still love the technology. Naturally, Kia’s own estimate is the fastback sedan will have a majority of sales with the four-cylinder 2.2-liter unit under its hood. It’s well known from the Sportage, for example, capable of delivering 200 horsepower at 3,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 325 lb-ft (440 Nm) from 1,750 rpm.
Using the diesel powerplant, the Stinger GT Line will sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in 7.7 seconds en route to a top speed of 140 mph (225 kph). The GT Line series comes with a bevy of full GT elements, including most of the exterior attire, without making you spend extra to get the biturbo 3.3-liter V6 engine. Kia also offers the Stinger in Europe with an entry-level turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline good for 255 hp and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) from 1,400 rpm – it’s good for an acceleration of six seconds and a maximum speed of 149 mph (240 kph).
