This is something that can transform even grown men into kids – and falls in the same category as the one the Ariel Atom is in. Though this time around you’re also almost sure you’re green, too.
This is courtesy of Switzerland-based electric vehicle specialists Kyburz, which has recently delivered some footage with its eRod, a model that we missed (along with the rest of the world) while attending the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The model is now available and can even be had in trims – Basic, Fun, and Race. As you can see, this is a model that takes all the goodies provided by models such as the Atom and wraps them in an environmentally-friendly powertrain. The zero-emissions performance comes in restrained sizes in the Basic and Fun models.
The base option comes with a 10-kWh battery that’s not going to last more than 43 miles on a six-hour charge and an electric motor that churns out 60 horsepower and 103 pound-feet of torque. The Fun meanwhile gets up to speed with a battery pack that goes up to 17.3 kWh, the range can last between 62 and 81 miles, with the charge needing a full ten hours. In turn, the engine is the same as in the Basic, which equals to a top speed of no more than 75 miles per hour. The Race is your go to option though – 39 kWh battery pack that’s good for approximately 137 miles on just four hours of charge. The electric motor jumps to 201 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque for a top speed of 81 mph.
