A drag race between the Lamborghini Aventador and the Lamborghini Huracan has proved that the two supercars are extremely close in terms of performance.
Despite being unveiled a few years back, the Lamborghini Aventador remains the flagship model of the Italian brand and rumor has it that it will receive a successor soon. The Huracan has been shown a year ago and it is coming as the replacement of the old and extremely popular Gallardo. But which one is faster between the two? Well, the Aventador, obviously, because the Sant’Agata Bolognese based carmaker has made sure that its flagship model will not be slower than the smaller and cheaper Huracan. But the performance of the two supercars is extremely similar, as this video is proving.
The Lamborghini Aventador has been in production since 2011. This has a 6.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine under its hood, rated at 690 HP (510 kW) and 689 Nm (508 lb-ft) of torque. This needs just 3.0 seconds in order to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) and it can go up to a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). The model has a mid-engine and all-wheel drive layout and a 7-speed semi-automatic transmission with a single-clutch. The Huracan has been in production since 2014 and it has the same mid-engine and all-wheel drive layout. It is making use of a 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, rated at 602 HP (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft). Power is sent to the wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) it needs 3.2 seconds and top speed stands at 325 km/h (202 mph).
