The successor of the well known Gallardo is introducing its most potent version to date – the Huracan Performante, and even before the model is released we’ve been treated to a new Nurburgring lap record.
The Lamborghini Huracán Performante is now the official owner of the production car lap record on the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife via a time of 6:52.01. Test driver Marco Mapelli lapped the famous course on October 5, 2016, but Lambo has taken its sweet time announcing the performance. The Italian supercar even proves its talent via an official video with telemetry as proof – the model uses numerous tricks to be better in every respect than its standard counterpart. For example it uses advanced active aerodynamics system – the Aereodinamica Lamborghini Attiva. It also has the company’s proprietary Forged Composite carbon fiber to help it lose weight – up to 90 pounds (41 kilograms) over the standard version.
The tires used for the attempt were actually the same ones that will grace customers – Pirelli Trofeo R. We still don\t know a great deal about the fact sheet in terms of technical details. The Performante has the same 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10, but with additional work it has increased output. The model has posted a blistering fast time – 6:52.01 is easily ahead of the former record of 6:57 achieved by the out of production Porsche 918 Spyder.
