While Lambo CEO Stefano Domenicali has expressed his reserve about the Urus being an SUV that will run after the Nurburgring record, this recording clearly suggests otherwise.
These days all sorts of cars are doing runs on the Nurburgring – and among them the spy photographers have also found the production series Lamborghini Urus, which is being pushed here to the limit on the Green Hell to suggest this is more than a simple spiritual successor to the LM002, aka “Rambo Lambo”. The high-riding Raging Bull certainly looks at home on the Nurburgring Nordschleife – and the 650 hp SUV is certainly approaching the moment of completion, with pre-production examples starting to come out at home in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
While many traditional fans think a crossover has no place in the Lamborghini lineup, we can point out to the cult status of the LM002 and the fact that parent company VW Group has experience with purist brands changing their fortune for the better with an SUV – just look at the Porsche Cayenne. On itself, the Urus is expected by the company to double brand’s production by 2019, meaning they have very high expectations. By the way, the spy video also involves other nice tests, such as the one with the 2018 BMW M5.
