We all know the British sports car manufacturer Lotus is famous for the lightweithing concept applied to all of its products, which makes them all perfectly suited for a life spent on the race tracks.
As such, the automaker has decided that its new promotional stunt featuring the just introduced Exige Sport 350 is at home on the race track. Showcased for the first time earlier this month, the Exige Sport 350 has been tipped by the company to feature the “ultimate incarnation of the world famous Exige” and has been developed to be even lighter and quicker than the old Exige S. It appears the engineers researched extensively the weight of each Exige S component and then thought about ways to lower their mass to deliver a lighter Exige Sport 350. The total save at the tipping scale was of 112 lbs (51 kg) after they adopted a new battery, lighter engine mounts and a louvered tailgate panel. More so, we can also find new HVAC pipework, a modified sound insulation setup and inside the cabin sits neatly a new center console featuring an exposed gearshift mechanism.
Motivation is provided by a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine churning out 345 hp (257 kW) and 295 lb-ft (399 Nm) of torque which has been mated to a refreshed manual gearbox that will deliver a 0-62 mph run in 3.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 170 mph (274 km/h). going for the optional six speed auto will shave the acceleration time to 3.8 seconds. European availability starts in February 2016 with pricing from 55,900 pounds in the UK, 74,000 euros in Germany and 74,630 euros in France.
