Global RallyCross driver Marcus Grönholm crashed and lost consciousness yesterday during the X Games RallyCross event.
The driver was unconscious but breathing after the accident and was transported to a nearby Los Angeles hospital.
His management team released a statement (right) this evening saying Marcus has regained consciousness and is able to move his limbs, but will remain in hospital under the expert care of the doctors.
Saturday’s crash follows the more serious-looking accident on Friday to Toomas Heikkinen, who broke his ankle after his car fell short and smashed into the other side of the jump.
Further updates on Marcus’ condition will follow and in the meantime, the team wishes to thank everyone for their concern and best wishes.”
The Flying Finn Marcus Gronholm, a double World Rally Champion in 2000 and 2002, currently leads the GRC points after dominating both of the opening rounds at Charlotte and Texas.
