Nissan has staged a marketing coupe de grace by enlisting actress Margot Robbie to actively promote the Nissan BladeGlider concept and of course its EV technology while driving around Monaco.
Anyone that has some cinema knowledge has probably seen Robbie being the crazy anti-hero Harley Quinn in last year’s blockbuster Suicide Squad, and those who watched her know she debuted in the even crazier Wolf of Wall Street featuring her next to Leonardo DiCaprio. Now she’s doing some good work – as she has been signed by the Japanese automaker to be one of their spokespersons for the electric and zero-emissions vehicles. To kick off the engagement, Robbie took to the wheel of the BladeGlider concept for a late-night race around the streets of Monte Carlo. She naturally filmed a promo video and seems happy to drive the BladeGlider.
And yes, we do get the bad girl vibe from her Harley Quinn portrayal when she decides to ignore the advice of the person speaking to her in the headset. Nissan first showed the BladeGlider concept at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show as an electric sports car with a 1+2 seating arrangement. The updated version was presented last year and has two electric motors with a total output of 268 horsepower (200 kilowatts) and 522 pound-feet (707 Newton-meters) of torque.
