While the luxury and track battles between the German and Italian automakers were legendary decades ago, today the market is entirely hogged by the technical teutons – so Italians have to resort to their strength once more – emotion.
There’s no other way to beat around the bush – German brands have long won the sales battle – but maybe the Italians still have a chance at winning our hearts. British, Japanese and Italian luxury brands are always playing catch-up to the Germans, so they seek to compete in their own niche – appealing to customers bored of the German looks and looking for something different. The Maserati Quattroporte GranSport has been refreshed for the 2017 model year, which is a great incentive for the brand to kick off a new advertising campaign.
The GranSport gets perks such as 21-inch Titano wheels, black front lip spoiler, bigger air intakes in the bumper, a diffuser at the rear and trapezoidal exhausts at the edges of the back bumper. The engine versions did remain the same though – 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 (350 and 410 hp), V6 diesel (250 and 275 hp versions) and also a great 3.8-liter V8 for the GTS. “What every sports sedan wants to be when it grows up. The all new exclusive Maserati Quattroporte GranSport trim version,” reads the ad… We’re pretty sure that’s still not enough.
