Known as “The Bellagio of Dragstrips” along with many other names, the zMax Dragway now will definitely earn the tile of “World’s Fastest”, after Matt Hagan managed to break down the quarter mile record: 3.995 seconds with a top speed of 316.23 mph.

“I’m still floating after seeing my name on the wall here at zMax. When you have a group of guys behind you like I do, Tommy DeLago (crew chief), Glen Huszar (assistant crew chief) and the rest of the DieHard team, you can do great things”, said the lucky driver, Matt Hagan.

Matt Hagan managed to break the quarter mile record in his DieHard Dodge Charger and completed the 402m in just 3.995 seconds while hitting a 316.23 mph top speed in near-ideal weather conditions.

“To be a part of a milestone in history – to be the first in the 3s – that’s something they can never take away from you. The finish line comes up, and I was like ‘Dude, what did it run.’ It was a fast lap because my vision was blurred a little bit. He comes over and says: ‘It’s 3.99.’ I thought he was playing a joke”, added Matt Hagan.
