[Video] Matthew McConaughey’s Lincoln ads keep getting quirkier image

The Oscar-winning actor gets to experience the perks of driving or enjoying the backseat of Lincoln’s new Continental flagship, with the new commercial being shot by Academy Award-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister.

Just as it was the case with previous commercials, the new one titled “Crafted” also features a touch of McConaughey personality while taking time to attract our attention to the vehicle’s perks. Shot across a vast expanse of water, the 60-second spot has McConaughey admiring the Continental at first, a time to show sedan’s design. When the actor gets inside it starts getting weird, as there are two McConaugheys’ actually – he talks from the driver’s seat to his doppelganger sitting in the back.

There are also quirky fast cuts depicting the star trialing the interior elements – he beats on the steering wheel or opens the center console storage compartment. It appears that McConaughey’s much parodied quirkiness from the past has been slightly toned down and now the commercial is more successful in showing the Continental to prospective owners who don’t know that much about the car. Of course, one of the trump cards must be the 3.0-liter biturbo V6 that’s exclusive to Lincoln and packs 400 hp and 400 pound-feet (542 Newton-meters) of torque.
