Another video comparison between the Mazda MX-5 and the Toyota GT86 has been put together.
Placing the Mazda MX-5 and the Toyota GT86 against each other on the track is something quite “trendy” in the United Kingdom so Steve Sutcliffe from Auto Express couldn’t stay away from this comparison either. The two vehicles are quite different from one another but the basics remains the same so in the end it’s all a matter of personal taste whether you would like to ride with your top down or in the more maneuverable solid roof vehicle. If you are curious to see what Sutcliffe has to say about the two, scroll down and click the play button.
The Mazda MX-5 is brand new. It is in its newest generation and it has maintained its front-engine and rear-wheel drive, along with the drop-top body style. The vehicle has the SE, the SE-L and the Sport versions and an engine lineup which includes the 131 HP (96 kW) 1.5 liter unit and the larger 160 HP (117 kW) 2.0 liter unit. The Toyota GT86 on the other hand has been around for quite a few years now. This is offered in a front-engine and rear-wheel drive layout as well but it has a coupe body style. Under its hood we can find the Subaru boxer engine, with its four-cylinder 2.0 liter displacement, producing 200 HP. The unit is connected to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission and, in fact, these are the only choices a customer can make.
