The British based automaker McLaren has recently released a short video as part of a trilogy which is celebrating the company’s 50th anniversary.
The very first video made by McLaren, which is explaining the history of the company, has been recently released and it will be followed by other two, which will become available later on this year, on the automaker’s website. The three-part video series is focusing on Bruce McLaren, who has founded the racing team 50 years ago and passed away at 32 years old on the Goodwood circuit, back in 1970, after crashing his car.
“Bruce McLaren wrote the beginning of the story, and the legend is going to continue for many years to come. I’m only a chapter, not the book, and I want other people to come in and write their own chapters as time goes by. This is a book that’s still being written, and that, perhaps, is the greatest legacy of McLaren”, said the executive chairman at McLaren Group and McLaren Automotive, Ron Dennis.
In other related news, McLaren is getting ready these days to present the final production version of the P1. The McLaren P1 will be the official successor of the iconic F1 and the model is expected to get the same 3.8 liter V8 engine under its hood as the MP4-12C or the 12C Spider, but the version used on the supercar will be tweaked in order to produce an extra 120 HP. Rumors are saying that the McLaren P1 will target the Bugatti Veyron in terms of top speed and it will be the fastest accelerating car in the world. The final production version of the P1 will be unveiled next month, during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
