[VIDEO] McLaren P1 can lap the Nordschleife in less than 7 minutes, Ron Dennis says

The McLaren Group chairman Ron Dennis has recently announced that the brand new McLaren P1 can lap the Nordschleife in less than 7 minutes.

The announcement has been made during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show by the company’s official, Ron Dennis, who has started joking about how he slashed 10 seconds off Top Gear’s test track. The McLaren Group Chairman became very serious and said that the brand new P1 can lap the Nordschleife in less than 7 minutes. The announcement can be seen in the video posted below, at 7:10.

As a quick reminder, the McLaren P1 is a hybrid supercar which is powered by the 3.8 liter twin-turbo engine, found on the MP4-12C and 12C Spyder, which has been upgraded in order to produce 747 HP (542 kW) and 720 Nm of torque. The units is helped by an electric motor, which is providing 179 HP (132 kW) and 260 Nm of torque (192 lb-ft), to a total of 916 HP (674 kW). The McLaren P1 is a direct rival for the brand new Ferrari LaFerrari and the upcoming Porsche 918 Spyder. The model has been officially presented to the public during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
