Renault has officially pulled the wraps off the brand new R.S. 01 race car which is coming with a futuristic design and an impressive performance.
Following a couple of teaser images released over these past few weeks, the brand new Renault R.S. 01 is finally here, as the car manufacturer has officially pulled the wraps off its body. The model in question has a carbon fiber monocoque which is meeting the LMP1 regulations and it has been co-developed with Dallara. It has composite made body parts, LED taillights, a large rear wing, a diffuser and a twin exhaust arrangement.
Other parts found on the racer include the double wishbone, two-way Ohlins adjustable dampers, pushrods suspension system, 18-inch Braid wheels wrapped in specially developed Michelin tires, six-piston brake carbon discs, 380 mm in size and a 3.8 liter twin turbo V6 engine, from the Nissan GT-R, found under its hood. Tweaked by Nismo, the unit is good for 500 HP (373 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a Sadev 7-speed sequential transmission. The Renault R.S. 01 will compete in the 2015 World Series by Renault, in a new championship, the Renaultsport Trophy. Prices will start from 282,000 GBP.
