[Video] Mercedes-AMG GT R documentary if five parts of history and awesomeness image

It’s been a while since Mercedes-AMG premiered its most hardcore sports model of the current lineup – the GT R – a model that has been tweaked and groomed for the Nurburgring’s Green Hell.

We all know the details by hard – low-slung coupe, biturbo V8 with 577 hp, specially tuned suspension and aerodynamic package to enable a maximum speed of around 200 mph (320 km/h), as well as the Nurburgring lap time of 7 minutes 10 seconds. Now Mercedes is looking to enhance our memory about the machine with a five-part documentary – which plays on the strengths of the previous launch marketing campaign. The segments are also not overly long – so you can digest the entire series at work while taking your usual coffee breaks.

The first episode kicks off in a natural way – with a history of the Nurburgring. The GT R on its own included “tens of thousands of hours of testing” at the infamous circuit. The third chapter goes behind the scenes with the Beast of the Green Hell promo, complete with actual Nurburgring footage with the jungle version of the track shot in Thailand where conditions were, well of a jungle – with heat and monsoons and more. Chapter four continues the behind the scenes idea, complete with the oily Lewis Hamilton bits, and then back to the Nurburgring for more action, The final episode is all about bragging rights – and we’ll give them the benefit of having a few.
