Called by the automaker “the Beast of the Green Hell”, the all new flagship AMG GT version has made the trip to the United Kingdom to bask in some fan approval during the hillclimb of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The model wasn’t there to set an all new record, instead marketing purposes served well as the man behind the wheel was none other than Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers. Instead of revealing the AMG GT R at home in Germany, this time around Mercedes decided to showcase the new AMG GT in Great Britain, during a special event at the Brooklands track. Immediately afterwards the first official public appearance for the new version was made with help from Lewis Hamilton and then the model decided to take a trip to Goodwood for its dynamic debut. Affalterbach’s competitor for the Porsche 911 GT3 was in front of the audience sporting its new and exclusive “green hell magno” paint and an aggressive body kit that has been inspired by the Mercedes-AMG GT3 racecar.
The grunt of the engine showed its evolution but the AMG GT R was in fact just one among the many Mercedes Benz models present at the famous event. We can highlight a great 300 SLS or more recent introductions such as the S63 Cabriolet, C63 S Coupe Edition 1, along with the SLC 43 and SL 63. Motorsport aficionados also got a chance to see the F1 W05 Hybrid that competed in the 2014 Formula 1 season or historic cars such as the 1936 W 25 and Rudolf Caracciola’s W 125 Silver Arrow from 1938.
